Wacker Neuson Increases Warranties on CTLs and Skid Steers

After the recent 2-year, 2,000-hour full-machine warranty announcements on select new compact equipment by Caterpillar and Case Construction Equipment, Wacker Neuson is joining in on the party.

According to equipmentworld.com, Wacker Neuson has upped their standard warranty to a 3 year, or 3,000 hours full-machine warranty. The new warranty is available on all new and used skid steers and CTLs manufactured after October 1, 2016 in the firm’s Wisconsin plant and sold in the United States.

The 3-year full-machine warranty includes:

  • A 4-year or 4,000-hour powertrain warranty (includes but is not limited to engine, hydrostatics and axles)
  • A 5-year or 5,000-hour electrical system warranty (includes but is not limited to switches, electronic joysticks, instrument, display, indicators and wiring harness)

Brent Coffey, Wacker Neuson product manager for loaders, said, “Regardless of whether the customer buys the machine new or used, they can have comfort knowing that is is backed by the best warranty in the industry.”

CTLs Haven’t Replaced Skid Steers Just Yet

With the popularity of compact track loaders (CTLs) on the rise, many people think that the age of the skid steer is coming to a close.

Not so, according to a report on equipmentworld.com. In fact, skid steer sales aren’t just holding steady, but they are increasing ever so slightly. While there has been a shift in sales toward CTLs, it’s mostly likely due to the fact that they are relatively new, and their popularity is almost entirely based in North America.

Here are a few reasons why skid steers won’t be going anywhere anytime soon:

  • Faster – skid steers are typically 2-5mph faster than CTLs
  • Better for use on hard surfaces
  • More comfortable for operators on rough terrain
  • Better for snow removal
  • Higher degree of maneuverability
  • Cost 5-10% less to use and maintain

Skid steer sales are beginning to normalize, and while CTLs may have put a momentary dent in their market, they’re most likely here to stay.

How to Extend the Life of Your Undercarriage

Undercarriage parts are an important aspect of your compact equipment- and taking care of your sprockets, rollers, and idlers can save you money by increasing the lifespan of your tracks. Recently, Bobcat published an article on best practices for extending the life of your undercarriage.

Bobcat lists six tips:

  1. Clean mud dirt and rock out of your undercarriage after each workday
  2. Regularly inspect undercarriage parts for excessive wear and damaged components
  3. Operate with some extra caution – sharp turns and harsh surface applications take a toll on undercarriage and tracks as well
  4. Maintain proper track tension
  5. Use tracks that match your application by carefully selecting your track width and tread pattern
  6. Adhere to proper digging procedures

Keeping your undercarriage in good condition will save you money. Talk to a professional if you have questions regarding the wear on your tracks or undercarriage. They can help you make the best decision to save you money and take care of your machine. Call the experts at MWE at 1-877-336-6825.

What kind of attachments are you running on your compact equipment?

Recently, we had a chance to check out the latest issue of Compact Equipment magazine. The article “Implement Experts Offer Unique Tools to Diversify Skid Steer and Track Loader Operations” really caught our attention. It mentioned several attachments that have been designed to do a very specific thing including snow blowers, push-off buckets, side discharge buckets, post pounders/pullers and vacuum lift systems — proving these versatile compact equipment depend greatly on the attachment. After all, not every job calls for a bucket, right?
The point the article makes is that a machine’s performance and operator productive can be enhanced through the use of a specific attachment. We believe that same reasoning should be used where the rubber meets the road, dirt or whatever surface you’re working on. Choosing the tread pattern for your skid steer loader’s tires or tracks will improve the performance of your machine, provide a smoother ride and last longer.
So whether your machines are outfitted with a bucket, vacuum lift system or an attachment the world has never seen before, we can make sure you have the right tread pattern for the operating conditions. Give us a call at 877-336-6825 or drop us an email at sales@mwesales.com.
